The Story of Our Vietnam Connection

We began crafting wine for US distribution in 2019, under the expert hand of Winemaker Timothy Milos. You’ll find the 2017 Hundred Knot Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon to be the first released with the newly designed packaging.

In the spring of 2019, we broke ground on our tasting room. In the summer of 2020 we opened our doors to the public and finally shared RD Wines with Napa Valley wine tasters for the first time.

We are privileged to be part of the Napa wine community and honored to forge a new path in celebration of our founder’s legacy. At the heart of our every effort is a desire to bring people together– whether in the tasting room, at home, or across the world. We define our success through new relationships formed, meaningful conversations ignited, and a little extra joy sparked.

RD Winery Founder Dong Van Nguyen

OUR FOUNDER

Our founder Dong Van Nguyen’s legacy is an ode to perseverance, passion, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Despite his humble beginnings, he has achieved incredible accomplishments in his lifetime. In all of his work, he upholds the importance of compassionately growing communities to build sustainable futures for all. We harness this spirit in our every effort at RD Winery– from crafting beautiful wines at approachable price points to a welcoming and educational tasting experience that inspires conversation.

SEA LINKS CITY

Nestled alongside blue-green waters of Mui Ne’s sparkling bay is one of Mr. Dong’s most impressive endeavors. Once a barren desert, a 5-star luxury hotel, resort, and golf course sprawl the now lush site. The property is a vacationer’s paradise, with a variety of sports and leisure activities and 4 pools, including the largest in Vietnam. The Sea Green Restaurant and White Night Bar offer celebrated Vietnamese and world cuisine. A trip to the region is certainly not complete without a visit to this resort.

The RD Wine Castle

Built in 2013, The RD Wine Castle was inspired by Napa’s Castillo di Amorosa and medieval European architecture. Located in Sea Links City, the castle is a popular tourist attraction and shares the world of wine with visitors from near and far. Featuring an exhibition cellar, a grand tasting room, and a beautiful café adorned with orchids, the Wine Castle gives visitors a taste of the Napa Valley an ocean away.

Also on the property is the Sea Links Fishing Club, complete with a pond and 13 fishing huts. At the adjacent open air restaurant, guests can have their catch traditionally prepared and served alongside RD Wine.

OUR FIRST BOTTLINGS

Our first harvest was in 2012. All of the wine made from the grapes was destined for Vietnam, where it is sold in wine shops and offered for tasting at the RD Wine Castle. The wines have been marketed solely in Vietnam, under the slogan “Make the moment special.” A numbering system (55, 66, 77, 88, 99) is used on the labels to easily distinguish the everyday-drinking wines from the cellar-worthy.
