About RD Winery

RD Winery takes a more inclusive approach to the Napa Valley wine experience, creating a space where all can relax, connect, learn, and simply enjoy the moment. Founded in 2012 by Dong Van Nguyen, with wines originally only available in Vietnam, RD Winery is the first Vietnamese-owned winery in Napa. Vietnamese tradition and culture are fundamental to the winery’s approach to the visitor experience. The winery was recognized for its innovation and excellence in this area with the 2024 Best of Wine Tourism Regional award for Arts & Culture by Great Wine Capitals.

As part of CEO Mailynh Phan’s vision to transition the business into the U.S. market, RD Winery’s tasting room opened in 2020 and features Napa’s first all-Asian pairing menu. The winery’s terroir-driven portfolio offers a range of Napa and Sonoma classics featured under the Hundred Knot label, as well as lesser-known varietals under a food-centric Fifth Moon label — all artfully crafted by winemaker Timothy Milos with grapes sourced from throughout California. Mailynh Phan, CEO

Mailynh (pronounced ‘my-LIN’) Phan is the CEO of RD Winery. In 2019, Mailynh led RD Winery’s entry into the U.S. market and opened the Vietnamese-inspired tasting room in the summer of 2020. As an outlier in the industry, Mailynh envisioned a place where anyone curious about Napa wine would feel welcome to experience it and be able to afford it. She leads RD Winery through a community-focused approach, to offer experiences and events where people can delight in a refreshingly different wine country experience.

Quotable:

“People worry far too much about which is the right wine or dish, rather than enjoying the wine, the food and the company. Yes, it’s true, some dishes do enhance the experiences of the wine and vice versa, but it is very much a matter of taste, and people should be taught to trust their own experience, their own taste, and be bold and try new things.” –Timothy Milos
