About RD Winery
RD Winery takes a more inclusive approach to the Napa Valley wine experience, creating a space where all can relax, connect, learn and simply enjoy the moment. Founded in 2012 by Dong Van Nguyen, with wines originally only available in Vietnam, RD Winery is the first Vietnamese-owned winery in Napa and is rooted in its inspiring legacy and traditions of Vietnamese altruism and culture.
As part of CEO Mailynh Phan’s vision to transition the business into the U.S. market, RD Winery’s tasting room opened in 2020 and features Napa’s first all-Asian pairing menu. The winery’s terroir-driven portfolio offers a range of Napa and Sonoma classics featured under the Hundred Knot label, as well as lesser-known varietals under a food-centric Fifth Moon label — all artfully crafted by winemaker Timothy Milos with grapes sourced from throughout California. RD Winery is a Napa Green Certified Winery. Its Vietnamese-inspired indoor tasting room and garden-side patio are open Thursday through Monday.

Mailynh Phan, CEO
Mailynh (pronounced ‘my-LIN’) Phan is the CEO of RD Winery. In 2019, Mailynh led RD Winery’s entry into the U.S. market and opened the Vietnamese-inspired tasting room in the summer of 2020. As an outlier in the industry, Mailynh envisioned a place where anyone curious about Napa wine would feel welcome to experience it and be able to afford it. She leads RD Winery through a community-focused approach, to offer experiences and events where people can delight in a refreshingly different wine country experience.
“A lot of times, when people think about wine or they think about Napa, they have a preconceived notion about what that needs to look like or maybe sound like, or be priced at. And we’re trying to change that narrative.” –Mailynh Phan

Timothy Milos, Winemaker
Timothy Milos is the winemaker at RD Winery. Dedicated to producing terroir-driven wines for the past 20 years, he uses traditional winemaking techniques and a minimalist method to reveal the distinctions of each unique wine. Tim has received impressive accolades throughout his career, scoring 90+ on well over 120 wines, placing in the Top 100 Wines of the Year several times, and receiving 100 points from Robert Parker of Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck for his 2013 and 2016 Impassable Mountain Cabernets, respectively.
“People worry far too much about which is the right wine or dish, rather than enjoying the wine, the food and the company. Yes, it’s true, some dishes do enhance the experiences of the wine and vice versa, but it is very much a matter of taste, and people should be taught to trust their own experience, their own taste, and be bold and try new things.” –Timothy Milos

Wines & Accolades
RD Winery cultivates community through approachable, food-centric wine that is crafted under two labels: Fifth Moon and Hundred Knot, with a new upper-tier label named Khoai, that is part of the Hundred Knot collection.
Hundred Knot is an ode to the fable, “The Hundred-knot Bamboo”—a story about the power of unwavering courage, determination and honesty. The Hundred Knot collection offers a range of classics from notable vineyards across the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
- 92 points, Wine Enthusiast | 2019 Hundred Knot Sauvignon Blanc
- 92 points, Wine Spectator | 2018 Hundred Knot Cabernet Sauvignon
- 92 points, Wine Enthusiast | 2019 Hundred Knot Chardonnay
- 91 points, Sunset Magazine | 2019 Hundred Knot Grenache
- Double Gold, SF Chronicle | 2019 Hundred Knot Merlot
Khoai wines are a tier within the Hundred Knot collection, named after the Hundred Knot fable’s hero. Khoai wines are delicately crafted expressions that celebrate vineyards in Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
Fifth Moon is an ode to the Vietnamese summer solstice holiday celebrating new beginnings and community. The Fifth Moon collection is more food-centric and features lesser-known varietals.
The Collective at RD Winery
The collective at RD Winery is a group of 15 various wine, cider and beer producers that share a communal space, both to support camaraderie in the area and to bolster small businesses. The space is intended to help launch smaller brands and to give existing producers the freedom to pursue unusual or distinctive projects, creating an environment that allows for creativity and expression in all forms of fermentation.
